Belinda Tackett

I have spent 40 years working in the field of Early Childhood Education. I have worked with infants, preschool, and school age children. I even spent 3 years working with High School Students at JKBS. But my love and passion is teaching preschool children. I have worked for ICOE for 34 years of my career.

I have an AA degree in Early Childhood Education from Shasta College. I have additional ECE units from UCLA extension classes and hold a Site Supervisor Teaching Permit.

My personal philosophy for working with children is I want preschool to be a fun and exciting first school experience. I want children to feel loved and valued for the special little people that they are. I am very blessed to work with children and do what I love.

I am a bilingual early childhood educator with more that 15 years experience working with children from 3 mopnths to 5 years old with a special focus on toddlers ages 2 to 3. I provided childcare privately, worked at Smokey’s Cub House and Discovery Point in Bishop. Since 2022 I have been part of the State Preschool Program with ICOE. I am qualified and am currently applying to obtain my Teacher Permit. In addition, I completed my degree in Early Childhood Pedagogy in Mexico, which strenghtened my professional foundation and deepened my commitment to early childhood education and development. I plan to continue my professional growth, particularly in the area of childhood trauma, so I can better understand children’s emotional needs and provide compassionate, informed and effective support.

For me teaching means supporting academic learning, but also fostering each child’s emotional, social and personal development. I deeply value strong relationships with families, because I believe that working together is essential to support children’s overall growth and development. I strive to create a welcoming and positive environment where children can explore, express themselves, and develop confidence in themselves.
